Recess and Temps: Dressing for the Weather

Recess and Temps: Dressing for the Weather

A friendly reminder that we take students out for fresh air and recess when it is 20° windchill or above. Below 20° windchill, we have indoor recess. Similarly with the beginning of the year and in the spring, when temperatures start to rise with a heat index of 95° or above, we stay inside. Of course we look at various factors - like wind, rain, snow, ice - and use discretion. Safety and well-being of students is always the priority in any decision making.

With that in mind, it's important to check the daily weather report to ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Layers are always nice because students can add or remove layers to ensure their own comfort especially since the temperatures can rise and drop throughout the day. Please make sure as we are heading into these colder winter months that your child has a coat, gloves/mittens, and a hood or hat for when we go out to recess.

Thank you for sending your child to school in appropriate attire for the weather.
